Indiana Pacers 2020 Restart Preview - NBA Odds, Picks & Betting Predictions

When the 2019-20 NBA regular-season resumes at the end of July, the Indiana Pacers will be in 5th Place NBA Eastern Conference standings with an overall record of 39-26. The Pacers trail the fourth place Miami Heat by just two games and are tied with the Philadelphia 76ers but hold the tiebreaker between the two teams if the playoffs were to start today. Through 65 games, the Pacers are 21-11 at home and 18-15 on the road.

The leading scorer for Indiana is TJ Warren with an average of 18.7 points per game, while Domantas Sabonis is the second leading scorer and the leading rebounder with averages of 18.5 points and 12.4 rebounds per game. Malcolm Brogdon is the third leading scorer and the leader in assists with averages of 16.3 points and 7.1 assists per game. The Pacers have seven players averaging double-figures in scoring in a very balanced offensive attack.

Indiana is 13 games over .500 thanks to the excellent play of Warren and Sabonis as one and two in scoring respectively and the pair has carried much of the load on the offensive end along with Brogdon who took over as Indiana's court general in the absence of Victor Oladipo, who has played just 13 games this season after suffering a severe injury last season. Warren is not only playing exceptionally well on offense by leading the team in scoring but is chosen oftentimes by head coach Nate McMillan to guard Indiana's opponents’ top scorer.

Injuries have been Indiana's biggest problem of the 2019-20 season beginning with star point guard Oladipo who played just 13 games prior to the suspension of the season but did show signs of recovering with a 27-point effort just before play was halted. Brogdon has also suffered through a thigh muscle injury and has been limited to just 48 of the Pacers 65 games but should be completely healed when the season restarts. Doug McDermott, who is known for his sharpshooting skills, suffered a toe injury that kept him from playing the final three games before the season stopped but is once again 100%.

Indiana has a very good chance of catching the Miami Heat over the final games of the regular season as the Pacers trail Miami by just two games in the Eastern Conference. With Victor Oladipo back at 100% and fellow backcourt mate Malcolm Brogdon recovered from his thigh injury, the Pacers will have a formidable offense with four players, Sabonis, Warren, Oladipo and Brogdon all capable of shooting the lights out. Indiana will finish the regular season in fifth place in the Eastern Conference but will be eliminated in the first round playoffs.
