In Sunday NBA afternoon action, the Charlotte Hornets will travel to Little Caesars Arena to battle the Detroit Pistons.

The Hornets have won consecutive games and trail the Pistons by two full games in the race for the final playoff spot in the East. On Friday, Jeremy Lamb nailed a clutch three-pointer to give Charlotte a 113-111 home victory versus Toronto. The Hornets turned the ball over just seven times and shot 47 percent from the field.

All-Star G Kemba Walker tallied a game high 29 points to go along with eight assists and six rebounds. Frank Kaminsky contributed 22 points and 13 rebounds off the bench for the Hornets. The Detroit Pistons have lost three straight games and are tied with Brooklyn for seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings. On Friday, Detroit managed just 14 points over the final 12 minutes of a 123-110 road loss against Oklahoma City. The Pistons were dominated on the glass by a 71-41 margin and shot 43 percent from the field.

Blake Griffin poured in a season high 45 points on 11-for-20 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds. Ish Smith added 12 points and four assists in a losing effort for the Pistons.

Charlotte C Cody Zeller (left knee soreness) and F Marvin Williams (right knee strain) have been ruled out of this contest. The Hornets rank 19th in tempo and the Pistons play at the third slowest tempo. With so much on the line, the under is the play on Sunday.
