The Moda Center Will host opening night of the preseason as the Golden State Warriors take on the Portland Trail Blazers. Golden State comes into this game off a bad injury riddled year in the 2020-2021 season. Golden State is expected to have perennial All Star Klay Thompson back for this season immediately putting the Warriors back in the championship picture.
Golden State will rely on their starters to stretch out the lead and control the game early before coming out and passing things off to the reserves. Stephen Curry is still the best shooter in the league and is expected to be joined by his counterpart making Golden State one of the hardest teams in the league to stop. Golden State will play their starters on an expected minute restriction to open the preseason allowing them to work their way back to form.
The Portland Trail Blazers opened the 2021-2022 preseason at home with one of the best backcourts in the league ready to go. Damian Lillard and CJ McCullum will again take this team as far as those two can go. Damian Lillard has proven in the past he is a clutch player that will again carry Portland to the playoffs this season.
Much like Golden State in this game Portland will likely play their starters heavily in the first half allowing them to rest and coast in the second. Portland Will rely on depth and the home crowd with no injured players listed to open the preseason.
Free NBA Pick:
These teams open the Pre Season as familiar foes as each will compete for a playoff spot this season. Look for both teams to keep their starters minutes down leaving this game up to the backups. Golden State is the better team but will likely sit guys and keep things slow to start the new year. Look for Portland to come out motivated in front of their home crowd to get the win Monday night. Final Score Prediction, the Portland Trail Blazers win and cover 111-104.
