The Staples Center will play host to a Tuesday night NBA preseason battle between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Warriors finished last season ranked fifth in defensive efficiency, but failed to qualify for the postseason. On Friday, Golden State led by as many as 22 points and held on down the stretch for a 121-114 home victory versus the Los Angeles Lakers.

All-Star G Steph Curry poured in a game-high 30 points on a 12-for-24 shooting performance and added five steals. Jordan Poole contributed 28 points on 10-for-19 from the floor for the Warriors.

The Los Angeles Lakers failed in their NBA Championship defense and were eliminated by Phoenix in the first round of the playoffs. In the offseason, the Lakers completed a major overhaul and now feature the oldest roster in the league. During Friday’s road loss, Los Angeles outrebounded Golden State by a 56-42 margin and turned the ball over an alarming 27 times.

C Dwight Howard led five Los Angeles players with 23 points and 12 rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench. Kent Bazemore added 11 points and five rebounds for the Lakers.
