On Wednesday, the Atlanta Dream look to bounce back from an opening loss when they visit the Windy City to played the Chicago Sky in an early season WNBA showdown. On Sunday, the Dream opened their season with a 101-78 loss to the Dallas Wings. The Dream fell behind 58-37 at the half and could not recover. Atlanta had five players score in double figures led by three – Renee Montgomery, Tiffany Hayes and Brittney Sykes with 14 apiece.
Chicago is off to a strong start with two wins to open the season with the most recent on Sunday over the New York Liberty 80-76. Allie Quigley scored 22 points with 15 coming during the fourth quarter. The Sky beat the Indiana Fever on Saturday 82-64 in the opening game of the season for both teams.
After just one game, Montgomery, Hayes and Sykes are averaging a team high 14 points apiece, while Angel McCoughtry is averaging 13. Sykes leads the team in rebounding with an average of 7.0, while Montgomery leads in assists with an average of 4.0 per game. Montgomery is shooting just 36.4% from the field and 33.2% from 3-point territory.
Allie Quigley leads the Sky in scoring with an average of 20.5 points per game. Cheyenne Parker is the team leader in rebounds averaging 8.0 per game, while two players Diamond DeShields and Jamierra Faulkner share the assists lead with an average of 4.0 per game. Quigley is shooting an even 60% from the field and 55.6% from 3-point territory.
