The Charlotte Hornets look to bounce back from a loss when visiting the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. Charlotte is 3-4 and tied for second with Washington in the Southeast Division one game behind the first-place Atlanta Hawks. Charlotte was defeated by the Sacramento Kings 115-108 on Monday night. PJ Washington was the leading scorer for Charlotte with 28 points but the Hornets committed 21 turnovers in the loss.

With Terry Rozier out injured, the leading scorer is Gordon Hayward with an average of 20.0 points per game while the leading rebounder is Nick Richards with an average of 7.5 rebounds per game. Dennis Smith is the leader in assists with an average of 6.2 assists per game. Charlotte continues to play without LaMelo Ball, who last season was the team leader in scoring and assists.

Chicago completes a back-to-back when hosting Charlotte on Wednesday after playing on the road Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets. Chicago is 3-4 and third in the Central Division 3 ½  games behind the first-place Milwaukee Bucks. Chicago was defeated by the Philadelphia 76ers 114-109 on Saturday. DeMar DeRozan was the leading scorer for Chicago with 24 points but the Bulls shot only 45.0% overall.

DeMar DeRozan is leading Chicago in scoring and assists with averages of 25.9 points and 4.6 assists per game, while Nikola Vucevic is the leading rebounder with an average of 11.9 rebounds per game. Zack Levine is the second leading scorer with an average of 22.5 points per game and is one of four players for Chicago averaging double-figures in scoring. Chicago is shooting 45.3% overall and 36.3% from three-point territory. 

Charlotte has several injuries to key players such as LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier, who last season were the top two scorers and are both sidelined. Chicago has a duo of scores in DeMar DeRozan and Zack LaVine, who will take advantage of an undermanned Charlotte backcourt. Chicago has covered the number in five of the last eight on the road.
