In the first game of a Friday night NBA on ESPN doubleheader, the Boston Celtics will visit the New York Knicks.

The Celtics have won consecutive games and are currently 13 games above .500 overall. On Wednesday, Boston played without Kyrie Irving (hip) during a 126-94 home victory versus Charlotte. The Celtics dominated the Hornets on the glass by a 58-38 margin and shot 56 percent from the field.

Jayson Tatum led five Boston players in double figures with 20 points on 9-for-15 from the floor. Terry Rozier contributed 17 points and ten rebounds for the Celtics. The New York Knicks have lost 11 games and are now in possession of the worst record in the league. On Thursday, New York sent shockwaves around the league by dealing All-Star F Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas in a package for Dennis Smith Jr. and two first-round draft picks. Last time out, the Knicks were outscored in each quarter of a 114-90 home loss versus the Mavericks.

Rookie F Kevin Knox led New York with 17 points and pulled down five rebounds. Allonzo Trier added 11 points in 19 minutes for the Knicks.

New York G Emmanuel Mudiay suffered a left shoulder strain and will be out for the next 1-2 weeks. The Celtics rank second in the league in defensive efficiency and will have no problem taking care of business against a short-handed Knicks’ team. Final Score Prediction, Boston Celtics win and cover ATS 114-95.
