Cavaliers at Grizzlies 12/26/18 - NBA Picks & Predictions

The Memphis Grizzlies have been struggling lately, and the Cleveland Cavaliers have just plain struggled all season. Memphis will be hoping to take advantage of that Wednesday when the Cavs come to town. Both teams are near the bottom in scoring, but the Grizzlies are one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Memphis (17-16) is 9-7 at home. The Grizzlies were 12-5 late in November, but are 5-11 since then. Memphis won its last game which ended a five-game losing skid. That was also the first time Memphis had scored more than 100 points in 10 games.

Cleveland (8-26) is 3-13 on the road. The Cavs have lost three straight and five of the last six games. The Cavs have lost the last four road games it has played. Memphis has the second best defense in the league, holding opponents to 102.2 points per game. The team is next to last on offense though, averaging 101.9. The Cavs are the fourth worst offensive team, averaging 102.8, and are giving up 111.1 points per game.

Memphis is led by Mile Conley with 20.5 points per agme, and 6.5 assists. Marc Gasol is averaging 16.1 points and 8.6 rebounds. The Grizzlies are averaging 8.9 steals and 12 turnovers. The Grizzlies are shooting 45 percent.

Cleveland is led by Jordan Clarkson at 16.9 points per game. Tristan Thompson is averaging 12 points and 11.6 rebounds. The Cavs are averaging 6.6 steals and 12 turnovers. The Cavs are shooting 44 percent overall and 35 from behind the arc.

Clearly this young Cavaliers team does not have the talent of the veteran Grizzlies but do think a day after Christmas it's a spot that Cleveland can sneak up on Memphis. Final Score Prediction, Memphis Grizzlies win but fall well short ATS 103-99.
