The Nets (35-33) have won three straight games and trail Toronto by 2.5 games for seventh place in the East. On Sunday, Brooklyn shot 49 percent from the field and held off a late New York rally to secure a 110-107 home victory.
All-Star F Kevin Durant exploded for a season-high 53 points on 19-for-37 shooting and dished out nine assists. Andre Drummond contributed 18 points and ten rebounds for the Nets.
The Orlando Magic have dropped 24 of their 32 home games and own the worst overall record in the East. On Sunday, Orlando took visiting Philadelphia to overtime before falling by a 116-114 final score. The Magic (18-51) outrebounded the 76ers by a 50-45 margin and knocked down 18-for-43 from the three-point line.
Wendell Carter Jr. led six Orlando players in double figures with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Cole Anthony added 19 points and eight rebounds for the Magic.
