Last Updated: 10/04/2021 at 9:28 AM ET

The Atlanta Hawks finished last season 41-31 and fifth in the Eastern Conference. During the offseason, the most notable additions for the club were Gorgui Deng through free agency, Delon Wright via a trade and Jalen Johnson selected 20th in the NBA draft. Tony Snell and Kris Dunn are the two biggest names no longer on the Atlanta roster. Atlanta’s top player is Trae Young, who last season averaged 28.8 points and 9.5 assists per game during the postseason.

De’Andre Hunter continues to recover from an injury that limited the forward to just 23 games last season while Bogdan Bogdanovic was also limited in the number of games played last season, and Cam Reddish missed most of the playoffs but those two are expected to be 100% to start the season. Joining Young in the Atlanta backcourt will be Bogdanovic, while Hunter and John Collins are expected to be the starting forwards and Clint Capela the starting center.

The Miami Heat finished last season 40-32 and were sixth in the Eastern Conference. During the offseason, the Heat added Kyle Lowry, PJ Tucker, and Markieff Morris. The biggest names leaving Miami were Goran Dragic, Trevor Ariza, Andre Iguodala and Kendrick Nunn. Lowry is expected to start alongside Duncan Robinson in the Heat backcourt with leading scorer Jimmy Butler joining Tucker at the forwards and Bam Adebayo at center.

Miami will have plenty of depth as Victor Oladipo, Tyler Herro, Dewayne Dedmon and Morris give Miami a tough roster through the first nine players. The addition of Kyle Lowry makes Miami a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference. In addition Tyler Herro is coming off a strong second year with the Heat. The Miami frontcourt led by Adebayo and Butler will give opponents plenty of problems on defense.

Miami has added key components to their roster such as Kyle Lowry and will compete not only to win the Southeast Division but a top five seed in the Eastern Conference. Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Lowry give Miami three scorers as well as much needed experience. Atlanta, with Trae Young, John Collins and Clint Capela, will also be a force to reckon with in the Southeast Division. Final Score Prediction, Miami Heat wins and covers ATS 110-101.
