An interleague clash will take place on Sunday afternoon, when the New York Yankees battle the Washington Nationals in the nation’s capital. The Yankees defeated the Nationals on opening night, but scuffled during last night’s 9-2 loss. Giancarlo Stanton doubled and went deep in a losing effort for the Yankees.

New York manager Aaron Boone has not named his starting pitcher for the series finale. The Yankees could go with an opener and ranked 14th in the majors with a 4.31 ERA a season ago.

The defending World Series Champion Washington Nationals have some holes to plug and are playing without OF Juan Soto (COVID-19). On Saturday, OF Victor Robles fell a triple short of the cycle and drove in four runs to power the Washington offense. Third baseman Asdrubal Cabrera collected three hits and scored a pair of runs for the Nationals.

Thirty-one year old southpaw Patrick Corbin (14-7 3.25 ERA) will get the nod for the Nationals on Sunday. In his first season with Washington, Corbin fanned 238 batters and posted a solid 1.18 WHIP across 202 frames.

Washington SP Stephen Strasburg was scratched from Saturday’s start due to a nerve issue in his right hand. Last season, New York ranked 3rd in OPS and 1st in runs scored. Washington features an offense that ranked 6th in OPS and 6th in runs scored in 2019. Take the Yankees to slug their way to a series victory on Sunday. Final Score Prediction, New York Yankees win 6-3.
