The Washington Nationals will visit Citi Field for game one of three against the New York Mets on Friday night. Josh Bell led the way for the Washington offense with a 2-run homerun in the top of the 7th inning. Yadiel Hernandez chipped into the offense with a solo home run in the 7th inning as well.
New York Mets come into Friday night 61-65 on the year with a 36-25 home record after losing four of the last five games played. New York lost the last game played 3-2 to the San Francisco Giants. New York finished the game with only ten hits including 2-8 with runners in scoring position leaving fan base. Dominic Smith contributed to the New York offense posting the only RBI of the game for the Mets.
Taijuan Walker got the start for New York against San Francisco giving up three runs on only two hits across six innings of work resulting in the loss. The New York bullpen was able to close the game out allowing only two hits and no runs over the final three innings of the game.
