In Monday night MLB action, the Washington Nationals will travel to Coors Field to take on the Colorado Rockies. The Nationals (64-92) are 20 games below .500 on the road and stuck in last place in the NL East Division standings. On Sunday, Washington went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position and managed just four hits during a 9-2 road loss against Cincinnati.

Rookie right-hander Josiah Gray (1-2 5.92 ERA) will make the 12th start of his major league career. Control has been an issue for Gray, who has walked 28 batters and surrendered 18 home runs through 59 plus innings.

The Colorado Rockies have lost four straight games and have been eliminated postseason contention. On Sunday, Colorado was limited to five hits and struck out 16 times during a 6-2 home loss versus San Francisco. 1B C.J. Cron hit his 28th home run of the season for the Rockies, who fell to 71-84 on the year.

The Rockies will counter with twenty-six year old righty German Marquez (12-10 4.32 ERA) on Monday. Colorado has won Marquez’s last four starts and he has allowed 13 earned runs over his last 19 frames.

Washington SP Stephen Strasburg (neck) has made just seven starts the last two seasons and hopes to be ready for 2022. Through 156 games, Washington ranks 5th in OPS and 15th in runs scored.
