AL Central Division foes will battle on Sunday afternoon, when the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians wrap up their series from Progressive Field. In the opener of Saturday’s doubleheader, Jorge Polanco hit a two-run shot to lead Minnesota to a 2-0 victory. Five Twins’ pitchers combined to strike out nine batters and walk just one.

Twenty-five year old righty Jose Berrios (12-8 3.63 ERA) will head to the hill for the Twins in this contest. In his last start, Berrios allowed two hits in seven innings during a 5-0 home victory versus Washington.

The Cleveland Indians are 23 games above .500 and currently two games back in the race for the final AL Wild Card spot. In the nightcap of yesterday’s doubleheader, Cleveland surrendered five runs in the eighth inning of a 9-5 defeat. Oscar Mercado homered and scored twice for the Indians, who fell 5.5 games behind the Twins for the division lead.

Twenty-four year old righty Shane Bieber (14-7 3.17 ERA) has been spectacular for the Indians this season. Through 195 plus innings, Bieber ranks third in the American League with 241 strikeouts and third with a miniscule 1.00 WHIP.

Minnesota OF Byron Buxton will undergo shoulder surgery on Tuesday and miss the rest of the season. Through 149 games, Minnesota ranks 2nd in OPS and 2nd in runs scored. For the season, Cleveland ranks 15th in OPS and 19th in runs scored. Take the Indians to get a much needed home victory behind Bieber. Final Score Prediction, Cleveland Indians win 5-3.
