The Toronto Blue Jays will visit the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday in their sixth game of spring training. Toronto defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-1 on Monday. In four spring training games, Toronto has defeated Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Detroit and has lost to only Philadelphia. The Blue Jays will play the New York Yankees on Tuesday prior to facing the Phillies on Wednesday.
Toronto is expected to battle for the title in the American League East and has added more strength to an already strong line up. Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Cavan Biggio, Bo Bichette and George Springer highlight a strong line up that will also have veteran third baseman Matt Chapman who was recently acquired from Oakland. Toronto's starting rotation will consist of Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Alek Mahoah and Yusiel Kikuchi.
Philadelphia has opened its spring training slowly, as the Phillies are 1-3 with only a victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Philadelphia's three losses have been to the Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees. The Phillies most recent loss was 5-2 to the Yankees. The Phillies will play the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday before hosting the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Philadelphia strengthened its roster with the signing of Nick Castellanos this week. Last season the outfielder had 31 home runs and 92 RBIs for the Cincinnati Reds. Philadelphia's lineup will be led by Bryce Harper, JT Realmuto, Rhys Hoskins and Didi Gregorius. The expected starting rotation for Philadelphia in 2022 will be Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, Kyle Gibson, Ranger Suarez and Hans Crouse.
