The Toronto Blue Jays travel on the road to Guaranteed Rate Field to take on the red-hot Chicago White Sox. The Southsiders have won seven of their last ten games after taking three of four from the Tigers and winning the opening game of this series and hold a 4-game lead over the Indians in the AL Central at 37-23 on the year. The Blue Jays have hung around .500 for a majority of the season and are currently sitting 7-games back in the AL East at 30-28.

Toronto has been one of the best offenses in the MLB this season, hitting .258 which ranks second in the MLB, and scoring 4.88 runs per game which ranks 9th in the MLB in scoring offense. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has emerged as one of the best hitters in baseball, despite being just 22-years-old hitting .335 with 18 home runs and 47 RBIs. He ranks third in batting average and RBIs and is tied for first in the MLB in home runs.

It will be a battle of the aces with Hyun Jin Ryu taking the mound for the Blue Jays in hopes of bouncing back after a rough last outing. Ryu allowed seven runs on seven hits and walked three in a 13-1 loss to the Astros, it subsequently raised his ERA nearly 60 points but still sits at 3.23 on the season. Ryu is 5-3 and over the last three seasons has been dominant, posting a sub-3 ERA in each of those seasons.

Chicago is also a high-powered offense, coming in closely behind the Blue Jays hitting .255 ranking fourth in team batting-average and ranking third in the MLB in scoring offense averaging 4.95 runs per contest. First baseman Jose Abreu is leading the team in homeruns with 11 and RBIs with 46, while hitting .253. Shortstop Tim Anderson has continued to produce hitting over .300, has driven in 23 runs on 6 homers.

Dallas Keuchel will be given the task of slowing down the dangerous Blue Jays lineup, he’s been solid this season going 4-1 with a 4.25 ERA this season. He’s not a power-pitcher with just 4.5K/9 this season and appears to have taken a small step back thus far this season. Keuchel was 6-2 with a 1.99 ERA last season, which would have been hard to replicate but even so he’s above his career 3.62 ERA.

Both of these offenses are among the best in the MLB this season and with two aces on the mound, this figures to be an excellent game. The White Sox coming in as a small underdog at home stands out as the play for me, especially considering the success they’ve had at home going 24-10 at home thus far this season. They’re also the hotter team after winning seven of their last ten games and they’re able to close out the series strong with a win at home. Final score prediction, White Sox win 4-3.
