The relief game in a major league game can make the difference between a win and a loss. However, one thing that really needs to be brought up is what teams really set for the potential wins on the year based off of their relievers. With that being the case we did break down the relievers based off of the middle relief nd set up men from the closers, who are a special breed that is all of their own.

Ryan Pressly is one of the top relievers and definitely gives the Houston Astros a good chance of winning a lot of games. What is even better is Houston has him at a steal at a half million dollars per year. Last season he threw in 55 games and posted a 2-3 record with a 2.32 ERA. managed to get 3 saves as well while striking out 72 batters in 54.1 innings.

Seth Lugo is another reliever that has done great for the Mets. Lugo is another great deal for his team with a salary that is just over a half million. Last season Lugo threw in a total of 61 games and posted a 7-4 record with a 2.70 ERA and 6 saves. He did throw in 80 innings last year and struck out a total of 104 batters in the year.

Drew Pomeranz is known as a starter, but for the Padres he could go either way. However, Pomeranz is coming into the game playing as a higher paid pitcher at 8.5 million dollars per year. Last season Pomeranz did not do much for the Giants with a 2-10 record and a 4.85 ERA in 46 games thrown in while striking out 137 batters.

Will Smith is heading into the game here with a salary that comes out at nearly 1.5 million dollars per year. However, last season he played in 63 games and posted a really good 6-0 record. Smith ended up getting a total of 34 saves, but was not declared as a true closer for the Giants. Now, Smith also did well enough to post a 2.76 ERA.

Matt Barnes is heading into the game here with a salary that would make a general manager salivate on how he can pitch. Barnes will be pitching for the Red Sox this year and last year Barnes did amazing posting  a 5-4 record and a 3.78 ERA with 4 saves in 70 games. Matt Barnes ended up getting a total of 64.1 innings pitched while striking out 110 batters.
