Top 5 Closing Pitchers 2020 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The closer role is one that takes nerves of steel for the pitcher and definitely an attitude. However, who in the majors are the best closers? What team is sitting nicely with one of the top closers in the majors in 2020? Well, that is what is about to be explored today as we go out and rank the top 5 closers in the majors for 2020.

Josh Hader is a lefty that has done really well for the Brewers in the past. Now, it is not to say that Hader did not get the Brewers fans a thrill at times, but he did really good for the Brewers and if handed the lead in the 9th most likely held it for the win. Last year, Josh Hader, posted a 3-5 record with 37 saves and a 2.62 ERA.

Kirby Yates is a steal for the Padres with a salary just over a half million dollars. Yates is one pitcher that has helped the Padres in closing out the games like never before and that should help drive the Padres to some additional wins. Last season for San Diego Yates posted an 0-5 record and 41 saves, but amassed a 1.19 ERA for the year.

Aroldis Chapman is heading into the pitch the closing role for the Yankees this year. Chapman came from Cuba to the Reds to start the year off. However, now he is pitching for the Yankees and that will definitely help shore the Yankees up on the year. Last season Chapman posted a 3-2 record and recorded 37 saves while posting a 2.21 ERA.

Roberto Osuna is the closer for the Astros and definitely will be one pitcher to keep your eye on. Osuna last year pitched really well and looked at the top of his game almost all year long. If he continues in this season at the level Osuna will be a major threat for the Astros and the American League hitters. Last year Osuna posted a 4-3 record and recorded 38 saves , but posted a 2.63 ERA on the season.

Ken Giles is one pitcher that showed that he is able to pitch really well for the Blue Jays. However, Giles is one pitcher who can get his trade value up significantly compared to what he has done in the past if he keeps his form like it was last season. Last year Giles ended up posting a 2-3 record with a total of 23 saves, but managed to get only a 1.87 ERA.
