The Friday MLB schedule will get underway with the first game of a doubleheader between the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox from Guaranteed Rate Field. Detroit was swept at home by Minnesota during the week by a combined 19-7 score. The Tigers have lost 112 games and own the worst overall record in the majors.
Rookie right-hander Tyler Alexander (1-4 4.99 ERA) will make his eight career major league start for the Tigers. Through 48 plus innings, Alexander has struck out 43 batters and owns a 1.36 WHIP.
The Chicago White Sox have won 70 games this season and have a talented, young core to be excited about for the future. On Thursday, Daniel Palka crushed two home runs to power Chicago to an 8-0 home victory versus Cleveland. James McCann started the scoring off with a three-run blast for the White Sox.
The White Sox will turn to veteran right-hander Ivan Nova (11-12 4.80 ERA) in the first game of the doubleheader. Last time out, Nova allowed two runs over five innings of a 5-3 road victory against Detroit.
