Last Updated: 08/20/2019 at 8:10 AM ET

In the first game of a day-night doubleheader, the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox will square off from Guaranteed Rate Field. The Tigers have lost nine of their previous ten games and certainly benefited from an extra day off due to last night’s rain out. On Sunday, Detroit struck out 15 times during a 2-1 home loss versus Washington.

Talented left-hander Daniel Norris (2-7 4.62 ERA) has yet to find consistent success at the major league level. Norris is winless in his last nine starts and is allowing a .286 opponents’ batting average on the season.
The Chicago White Sox have won three of their last four times and are positioned to be a team to reckon with in the near future. On Sunday, All-Star SP Lucas Giolito (11-2) allowed one hit in five innings to lead Chicago to a 4-3 home victory versus Minnesota. Yoan Moncada homered and Jose Abreu added three hits for the White Sox, who are three games below .500 overall.

Twenty-three year old righty Dylan Cease will make his major league debut for the White Sox on Wednesday. In 15 starts for Triple-A Charlotte, Cease posted a disappointing 1.57 WHIP and a 4.48 ERA.

Chicago SS Tim Anderson will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a sprained right ankle. Through 81 games, Detroit ranks 29th in OPS and 30th in runs scored. For the season, Chicago ranks 22nd in OPS and 26th in runs scored. Take the Tigers to win the first game of the doubleheader. Final Score Prediction, Detroit Tigers win 6-4.
