Tigers at Reds 7/26/20 - MLB Picks & Predictions

In Sunday afternoon MLB action, the Detroit Tigers and the Cincinnati Reds will complete their opening series from the Great American Ball Park. On Saturday, Jacoby Jones smashed a two-run shot in the ninth inning to lift Detroit to a 6-4 road victory. Miguel Cabrera added his 478th career home run, passing Lou Gehrig and Fred McGriff on the all-time list.

Twenty-seven year old righty Spencer Turnbull (3-17 4.61 ERA) will head to the hill for the Tigers in this contest. Last season, Turnbull gave up 14 home runs and struck out 146 batters in 148 plus innings of work.

The Cincinnati Reds enter the 2020 campaign with one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball and an improved lineup. Cincinnati took the series opener by a 7-1 final score, but closer Raisel Iglesias served up the game-winning long ball on Saturday. SP Luis Castillo struck out 11 batters and allowed one run in six innings but did not factor in the decision for the Reds.

Talented right-hander Trevor Bauer (11-13 4.48 ERA) will look to make a significant impact in his first full season in Cincinnati. Bauer, who was traded from Cleveland, has been an All-Star and owns a 4.04 career ERA.

Cincinnati SP Anthony DeSclafani has been placed in the 10-day injured list with a mild right teres major strain. Last season, Detroit ranked 29th in OPS and 30th in runs scored. Cincinnati comes into this game with an offense that ranked 22nd in OPS and 25th in runs scored in 2019. Take the Reds to clinch a series victory behind Bauer. Final Score Prediction, Cincinnati Reds win 6-3.
