In Monday night MLB action, the Detroit Tigers will travel to Progressive Field to open a series against the Cleveland Indians. On Sunday, Detroit exploded for seven runs during the third inning of a 12-8 road triumph versus Kansas City. Harold Castro and Niko Goodrum collected four hits apiece for the Tigers, who are 30 games below .500 overall.

Talented left-hander Daniel Norris (2-8 4.96 ERA) has yet to put things together at the big league level. Norris has lost three straight starts and has been tagged for 14 runs over his last 17 innings.
The Cleveland Indians have won seven of their previous ten games and are trying to climb back into the AL Central Division race. On Sunday, Cleveland salvaged the final game of their series with a 4-3 home victory versus Minnesota. Carlos Santana delivered a game-winning solo shot in the seventh inning for the Indians, who trail the first place Twins by 6.5 games.

Twenty-seven year old righty Adam Plutko (3-1 4.95 ERA) will make his seventh start of the season for the Indians. Through 36 plus innings, Plutko has struck out 26 batters and owns a solid 1.16 WHIP.

Cleveland SP Corey Kluber (arm) is nearing a bullpen session and could rejoin the rotation by the middle of next month. Through 89 games, Detroit ranks 29th in OPS and 30th in runs scored.
