The Texas Rangers will open a series with divisional-rival Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium which you can find more baseball picks as well. The Rangers have lost four of their last five games and seven of their last ten, and have fallen to 20 games back in the AL West. Los Angeles has lost eight of ten and despite having two of the best players in baseball, are 23.5 games back in the AL West and likely out of the playoff picture.

The Angels offense has fallen off a clip toward the end of the first half of the season and the offense has really struggled averaging 3.95 runs per game ranking 25th in the league in scoring offense. Shohei Ohtani has continued to be one of the best players in baseball leading the team with 21 home runs and 58 RBIs. But the back injury to centerfielder Mike Trout is a huge loss as he continues to miss games, but leads the team with 24 home runs on the year.

Shohei Ohtani will get the start for the Angels, and he’s arguably been a better pitcher than hitter this season. Ohtani is 9-5 with a 2.80 ERA and 1.00 WHIP on the year, he’s eighth in the league with 134 strikeouts, but is coming off a rough outing in his last start where he allowed six runs on six hits in 6.1 innings. Ohtani has struck out 10+ batters in his last five starts.

The Rangers are 12th in the league in scoring offense averaging 4.57 runs per game, with Adolis Garcia having a solid sophomore season leading the team with 61 RBIs. Shortstop Corey Seager has been a fantastic addition leading the team with 23 home runs and earned a spot in the 2022 Home Run Derby.

The struggling right-hander Spencer Howard will get the ball for the Rangers in hopes of turning around his rough season. Howard is 1-2 with a 7.11 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP, and after a stint on the DL early in the year has struggled to get healthy and breakthrough into the rotation. Howard allowed four runs on six hits in 4.2 innings in his last start, and the Rangers lost to the A’s 5-4.

The Angels have struggled this season and fallen to fifteen games below .500, but they should have a solid shot to get this win with Ohtani on the mound. Ohtani is a generational talent and his abilities at the plate and on the mound is able to lead the Angels to the win at home. Texas has lost seven of their last ten, is in the midst of a multiple-series road-trip, and has a struggling pitcher in Spencer Howard on the mound. Final score prediction, Angels win 5-4.
