Last night, Texas managed just five hits and went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position during a 4-2 road loss versus Detroit.

Hard-throwing righty Mike Foltynewicz (2-9 5.91 ERA) has suffered through a tough first season in Texas. Last time out, Foltynewicz was tagged for ten runs and recorded just five outs during a 10-0 road loss against Toronto.

The Detroit Tigers are riding a six-game winning streak and have limited Texas to three runs over the first three games of this series. On Wednesday, Detroit SP Matt Manning (2-3) allowed two runs in six innings to earn the win. Robbie Grossman, Akil Baddoo, and Zack Short all went deep for the Tigers, who improved to 46-51 on the season.

Twenty-seven year old left-hander Tyler Alexander (1-1 4.40 ERA) will make his fourth start of the season for the Tigers. In his last start, Alexander gave up two runs in three plus innings during a 5-4 home victory versus Minnesota.

Detroit SS Niko Goodrum is currently on the 10-day injured list with left calf tightness. Through 96 games, Texas ranks 29th in OPS and 27th in runs scored.
