The Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros are set to meet in game 5 of the ALCS as they will faceoff at Petco Park in San Diego, California. The Tampa Bay Rays come into this matchup with a 3-1 series lead over the Houston Astros, and they will be looking to get back on track after dropping game 4 on Wednesday, 4-3. SP Tyler Glasnow received the starting nod for the Tampa Bay Rays, and he struggled as he gave up 4 earned runs in 6 innings. OF Randy Arozarena continued his hot streak from the plate for the Rays as he hit 1 HR and 2 RBIs.

The Tampa Bay Rays have not yet named a starting pitcher for this matchup due to a short rotation, but they have been one of the top pitching teams this postseason. The Tampa Bay Rays rank 3rd out of 16th in team ERA during the postseason (3.15), 1st in strikeouts (94), and 11th in opponents’ batting average (.235).

The Houston Astros were finally able to get into the win column against the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALCS as they won Wednesday night in what could have been the final game of the season. SP Zack Greinke received the starting nod for the Houston Astros, and he had success as he gave up 2 earned runs while striking out 7 batters in 6 innings. 2B Jose Altuve had a big game from the plate for the Astros as he hit 1 HR and 2 RBIs which gives him 3 HRs this series.

The Houston Astros have not yet named a starting pitcher due to a short rotation, but they have been fairly solid during the postseason. The Houston Astros rank 7th out of 16th during the postseason in team ERA (3.38), 4th in strikeouts (92), and 8th in opponents’ batting average (.213).

The Houston Astros were able to avoid being swept by the Tampa Bay Rays with a win in game 4, and I feel as this could get this team going on the right path as their hitting showed a sign of life against a good pitcher. Jose Altuve has continued to hit the ball really well for the Astros as he is entering this game with 5 HRs and 10 RBIs, but he hasn’t been the only source of consistent hitting as Carlos Correa also has 5 HRs and 13 RBIs. The pitching matchup hasn’t been announced and that will play a factor, but the Astros need to limit the longball as they have allowed the Tampa Bay Rays to hit one or two solo-HRs a game which has been enough to lose thus far. The Astros have the better lineup which is why I will take them a pivotal game 5. Final Score Predication, Houston Astros win 4-3.
