St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves 7/7/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The St. Louis Cardinals will continue a road trip Thursday night as they wrap a four game road trip against the Atlanta Braves. St. Louis is struggling as of late five games above .500 after losing four of the last five games played including three in a row after a 7-1 loss to Atlanta in game two of this series. Andre Pallante got the start for the Cardinals giving up seven runs on ten hits across 3.2 innings of work leading to the loss. The St. Louis bullpen was much better allowing no runs on two hits across the final 4.1 innings of the game.

Offensively St. Louis was terrible on Wednesday night with only nine hits in 36 at bats as a team including 1-5 with runners in scoring position to leave 12 men on base. Nolan Gorman showed the only sign of life for the St. Louis offense with one hit in three at bats to drive in the only St. Louis run of the game.

Ian Anderson took the mound for Atlanta on Wednesday night allowing one run on eight hits across five full innings leading to the victory. The Atlanta bullpen came on to secure the victory allowing only one hit and no runs over the final four innings of the game.

The Atlanta offense shined Wednesday night with twelve hits in the game and went 4-11 with runners in scoring position to score 7 total runs. Austin Riley led the way for the Atlanta offense going 3-4 on the day including a two run home run in the first inning to drive in three total runs. Matt Olson and William Contreras added to the Atlanta offense with two RBIs each.
