On Sunday, Seattle rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning during a 6-5 road victory against Texas.

Thirty year old left-hander Robbie Ray (4-6 4.93 ERA) will head to the hill for the Mariners in this contest. Seattle has dropped Ray’s last three starts and he has given up 11 runs over his last 17 innings of work.

Houston manager Dusty Baker will give the nod to talented right-hander Cristian Javier (3-2 2.41 ERA) in the series opener. The Astros have won Javier’s last two starts and he has allowed just one run over his last nine plus frames.

Seattle OF Kyle Lewis is still experiencing concussion symptoms and has not resumed baseball activities. Through 54 games, Seattle ranks 17th in OPS and 22nd in runs scored.
