On Wednesday, the San Francisco Giants play the final game of a three-game series on the road against the San Diego Padres. San Francisco improved to 54-55 following its 1-0 victory over San Diego in the opening game of the series on Monday. San Francisco has won three straight but the Giants are a distant 21 ½ games behind the first place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.

Shortstop Thairo Estrada is batting .266 to lead San Francisco, while left fielder Joc Pederson is the leader in home runs with 17. Second baseman Wilmer Flores is the leader in RBIs with 56, hits with 88 and on-base percentage at .333. On Wednesday, the San Francisco Giants will send Jakob Junis to the mound. The right-hander is 4-3 with a 3.05 ERA, 53 Ks and 14 BBs.

San Diego dropped to 61-51 following its shutout loss on Monday to the San Francisco Giants. The Padres have been shutout in each of the last two games after losing on Sunday to the Dodgers 4-0. San Diego has lost five straight and the Padres are second in the National League West, 16 games behind the first-place Dodgers.

Third baseman Manny Machado is batting .289 to lead San Diego and has team highs in home runs with 19, RBIs with a 60, hits with 111 and on-base percentage with .362. Jake Cronenworth is second in RBIs with 56. On Wednesday, the San Diego Padres will send Sean Manaea to the mound. The left-hander is 6-6 with a 4.74 ERA, 118 Ks and 43 BBs. 

San Diego has slumped a bit of late, but the Padres have won five of the last seven played at home and have won four of the last five when playing against an opponent with a losing record. San Francisco starting pitcher Jakob Junis was hit hard last timeout allowing three runs on five hits and only 3 ⅔ innings resulting in a 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers last Thursday.
