In Saturday afternoon MLB action, the San Francisco Giants will battle the Pittsburgh Pirates from PNC Park. The Giants (36-27) have won seven of their last ten games and are 3.5 games back in the NL West Division race. Last night, San Francisco SP Carlos Rodon whiffed eight batters across eight frames during a 2-0 road victory. 

Thirty-one year old southpaw Alex Wood (4-5 4.11 ERA) will head to the hill for the Giants in this contest. Last time out, Wood allowed two runs in six innings during a 6-2 home victory versus Kansas City.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have dropped nine of their previous ten games and trail NL Central Division leading St. Louis by 10.5 games. On Friday, Pittsburgh was limited to two hits and had just one opportunity with a runner in scoring position. SP Zach Thompson (3-5) gave up two runs in four plus innings and took the loss for the Pirates (25-38).

Thirty-three year old lefty Jose Quintana (1-4 3.53 ERA) will take the ball for the Pirates on Saturday. Quintana has dropped consecutive starts and he has given up eight runs over his last eight plus frames.

San Francisco OF Lamonte Wade (knee) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend. Through 63 games, San Francisco ranks 11th in OPS and 8th in runs scored.
