Last Updated: 05/14/2021 at 10:49 PM ET

The San Fransisco Giants visit Petco Park for game 3 of the series with the Pirates Saturday evening. The Giants won game 1 of the series 3-1 on Thursday night. Steven Duggar got the scoring going for the Giants with a home run in the 5th, while Mike Yastrzemski added an RBI triple in the 5th as well. The third run scored on a catcher throwing error.

The Giants have the 3rd best defense and pitching stage in the MLB allowing 3.46 runs on 6.86 hits per game. Johnny Cueto (2-1 3.52 ERA) will get the ball Saturday night for the Giants. Cueto has allowed 9 runs on 21 hits in 23 innings of work through 4 starts this season.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost 11 of the last 14 games played and come into Saturday 15-22 on the year. The Pirates biggest issue on the year is offensively the team ranks last in the MLB scoring 3.41 runs on 7.38 hits per game. Adam Frazier leads the Pirates with a .299 batting average, while Colin Moran boasts a team high 19 RBI's.

Pittsburgh struggles on offense, but defensively haven't been much better. The Pirates are the 21st ranked defensive team in the MLB allowing more than 4.5 runs per game on nearly 8 hits. Pittsburgh has given up 24 total runs over the last 4 games dropping 3 games in that stretch. Tyler Anderson (3-3 3.05 ERA) will get the ball for the Pirates Saturday at home. Anderson has allowed 31 hits and 3 home runs, while striking out 37 batters in 41.1 innings pitched.

This will be the first game of the series where the pitching matchup is relatively close. The issue there is the Pirates offense is not producing at all and will again fail in this game. Cueto will have no issue getting through the Pittsburgh lineup, while the Giants bats get too Anderson. The Giants will do enough here to again pick up a road win. Final Score Prediction, San Fransisco wins 5-2.
