The Monday MLB schedule will get underway with a battle between the San Francisco Giants and the Milwaukee Brewers. The Giants (11-5) are riding a three-game winning streak and trail Los Angeles by a half-game for first place in the NL West Division. On Sunday, San Francisco OF Joc Pederson slugged two home runs during a 12-3 road triumph against Washington.

Twenty-six year old southpaw Sam Long (0-0 0.00 ERA) will make his seventh career major league start for the Giants. Through 45 plus career innings, Long has surrendered 25 runs and struck out 42 batters.

The Milwaukee Brewers have won five of their first seven home games and are locked in a virtual tie with St. Louis for first place in the NL Central Division. Last night, SP Eric Lauer (2-0) struck out 13 batters in six innings to lead Milwaukee to a 1-0 road victory against Philadelphia. Christian Yelich scored Jace Peterson on a ninth inning sacrifice fly for the Brewers, who improved to 10-6 on the season.

The Brewers will counter with dominant right-hander Corbin Burnes (1-0 2.37 ERA) in the series opener. Last time out, Burnes allowed two runs and fanned ten batters in seven innings during a 5-2 home victory versus Pittsburgh.

San Francisco 3B Evan Longoria (finger) has been doing fielding drills and hopes to return to action next month. Through 16 games, San Francisco ranks 15th in OPS and 8th in runs scored.
