On Monday, the San Francisco Giants visit Coors Field to play the Colorado Rockies in the first game of a four-game series between the two National League West rivals. San Francisco improved to 5-4 following its 7-3 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday. Donovan Solano hit a single to drive in two runs early and the Giants overcame starting pitcher Drew Smyly’s injury to beat the Rangers.

Donovan Solano is leading the Giants in hitting with a batting average of .448, in RBIs with 13 and hits with 13.  Wilmer Flores and Mike Yastrzemski are tied for the lead in home runs for the Giants with two each. The Colorado Rockies improved to 5-2 following a 6-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Saturday. The win was Colorado's fifth in its last six. Kyle Freeland allowed two hits in six innings of work and was helped by excellent defense from both Nolan Arenado and Trevor story. Colorado is tied for first place in the National League West with both the Dodgers and Padres.

Trevor Story is leading Colorado in hitting with a batting average of .385 and in home runs with four. Charlie Blackmon is the leader in RBIs with five and hits with 10. On Monday, the Rockies will send German Marquez to the mound. The right-hander is 1-1 with an ERA of 1.54, 14 Ks and 4 BBs. 

Both San Francisco and Colorado are playing well to begin the season, but the Rockies have won five of their last six. Colorado has won four of its last five at home and five of its last seven following a victory. Rockies starter German Marquez is 1-1 but has an excellent ERA of just 1.54.
