The San Fransisco Giants open a road series at Coors Field taking on the Colorado Rockies. San Fransisco had the late Sunday Night Game in St. Louis, and the travel is likely to play a factor in this contest. The Giants swept the Rockies at home just two series ago, but dropped the last two against the Cardinals to drop to 20-14 on the year. The Rockies snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over the Royals, but lost game three and the series and fell to 17-17 on the year.

The Rockies have had a ton of success at home this year and are one of the better offenses in baseball to this point in the season. Colorado leads the league in batting average hitting .260 as a team, and are 8th in runs scoring 4.64 runs per game, including a league-best 6.22 at home. CJ Cron has started the year red hot with 9 home runs and 25 RBIs, leading the team in both.

Antonio Senzatela will get the start for the Rockies and he has had some struggles this year going 2-2 with a 4.88 ERA in six starts. He isn’t striking out a lot of batters, just eight in 27.2 innings, but has issued just 7 walks. The Giants shelled Senzatela in his last outing, scoring five runs on seven hits in just 3.2 innings as they went on to win 9-2.

The Giants picked up where they left off last season and are right in the mix in the NL West, trailing the Dodgers and Padres by just a game. The Giants are 8th in batting average and fourth in scoring offense averaging 4.94 runs per contest. Joc Pederson has started to find his groove with a team-high 6 home runs and is hitting .241 on the year.

The lefty Alex Wood will get the start for the Giants, he is 3-2 with a 3.60 ERA in his six starts this season. This is the exact same pitching matchup as last Tuesday and Wood was solid allowing seven hits and an unearned run, striking out four in the process. Wood has had an excellent ten years in the league, posting a 3.50 ERA, and was a key piece to the Giants' run last season.

With how good the Rockies have been this season at home, and the Giants catching a red-eye flight out of St. Louis, this lines up to be a great spot for the Rockies as a home dog. Senzatela lost the matchup versus Wood early this week, but he is able to bounce back against the lagging Giants bats and put together a solid start. The Rockies hit a couple of long balls and the bullpen holds on to get the win. Final score prediction, Rockies win 5-4.
