San Francisco Giants at Cincinnati Reds 5/29/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Sunday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the San Francisco Giants and the Cincinnati Reds from the Great American Ball Park. The Giants (24-21) have dropped seven of their previous ten games and are seven games off the pace in the NL West Division race. On Saturday, San Francisco went 3-for-16 with runners in scoring position during a 3-2 road loss.

Thirty-four year old righty Alex Cobb (3-2 6.25 ERA) is looking to bounce back after consecutive difficult starts. In his last 11 plus innings, Cobb has been knocked around for 13 hits and 13 earned runs.

The Cincinnati Reds are riding a four-game winning streak and are trying to overcome a disastrous start to the season. On Saturday, SS Kyle Farmer’s three-run blast in the first inning was all the offense that Cincinnati would need. SP Vladimir Gutierrez (1-6) allowed one run in five innings to earn the win for the Reds (16-30).

The Reds will give the nod to twenty-seven year old righty Tyler Mahle (2-5 6.32 ERA) on Sunday. Last time out, Mahle surrendered eight runs and lasted just four innings during an 11-4 home loss versus Chicago.

Cincinnati 2B Jonathan India (hamstring) is still a couple of weeks away from starting a minor league rehab assignment. Through 45 games, San Francisco ranks 3rd in OPS and 3rd in runs scored. For the season, Cincinnati ranks 22nd in OPS and 13th in runs scored. Take the Reds to win at home. Final Score Prediction, Cincinnati Reds win 6-4.
