The San Diego Padres travel on the road to Dodger Stadium to take on division rival Los Angeles Dodgers. The Padres are coming off a series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, capped off with a 9-5 win to improve their record on the season to 9-7 on the year. The Dodgers have won four of their last five, including two over the Padres. Coming off a dominant 6-2 win over the Giants, the Dodgers moved to 11-5 on the year.

The Dodgers offense has been solid this year batting .234 on the year but have scored 87 runs in 16 games, the most in the MLB this season. With 29 team home runs, the Dodgers dangerous lineup is top to bottom the deepest lineup in baseball. Despite MVP candidate Cody Bellinger struggling batting just .172 on the year, the depth of the Dodgers has kept them afloat while Bellinger has stuttered to a start.

Ross Stripling will take the mound for the Dodgers at home, Stripling is 3-0 on the season and comes in with a 4.00 ERA In 18 innings of work. Stripling has struck out 16 and walked just 4 in his three starts this season. The Dodgers pitching staff as a whole has been solid, coming in with a 2.53 ERA on the year which ranks 2nd in the MLB.

The Padres offense is led by young star Fernando Tatis Jr. who has been exceptional this season batting .333, hitting 8 home runs and driving in 18 runs; all three leading the team. Tatis Jr. 8 home runs is tied for the lead in the MLB and his 18 RBIs ranks second in the MLB this season.

The Padres come in with a team ERA of 4.31, ranking 19th in the MLB this season and will have Garrett Richards taking the mound in the matchup against the Dodgers. Richards has made three starts this season, pitching in 15 innings while striking out 16 and walking five on the year. Richards comes in with a 4.60 ERA, well above his career ERA of 3.63.

The Dodgers are a dominant team in the NL this season, the heavy favorite to win the pennant behind a deep and very dangerous lineup. This season has been proof of that, despite Cody Bellinger struggling the Dodgers still score the most runs per game in all of the MLB this season. With a top ranked offense and defense, the Dodgers will be a tough team to beat all season and this game is no different. Final score prediction, LA Dodgers win 8-4.
