The Sunday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the San Diego Padres and the Atlanta Braves from Truist Park. The Padres (21-13) have won 11 of their first 17 road games and trail NL West Division leading Los Angeles by a half-game. On Saturday, San Diego SP Sean Manaea struck out 12 batters in seven innings and did not factor in the decision during a 6-5 road loss against Atlanta.

Twenty-nine year old righty Joe Musgrove (4-0 2.08 ERA) is making a strong case for an All-Star appearance. Through 39 innings of work, Musgrove has fanned 41 batters and ranks fifth in the National League with a 0.90 WHIP.

The Atlanta Braves have split their first 20 home games and trail NL East Division leading New York by six full games. During yesterday’s home victory, 3B Austin Riley’s RBI double capped a four-run eighth inning rally. OF Marcel Ozuna tied the game at five with a two-run blast for the Braves, who improved to 16-18 on the year.

The Braves will turn to twenty-six year old righty Kyle Wright (3-2 3.03 ERA) in the series finale. Last time out, Wright was tagged for six runs in four plus innings during a 9-4 home loss versus Boston.

San Diego SS Fernando Tatis Jr (wrist) has been working out at the team’s spring training facility and hopes to return next month. Through 34 games, San Diego ranks 13th in OPS and 8th in runs scored. For the season, Atlanta ranks 12th in OPS and 14th in runs scored. Take the Braves to win at home. Final Score Prediction, Atlanta Braves win 5-3.
