Thirty-three year old righty Ian Kennedy (1-5 5.30 ERA) will take the mound for the Royals in this matchup. Kansas City has lost each of Kennedy’s last three starts and he has been tagged for 19 runs over his last 15 plus frames.
The Texas Rangers have dropped 32 of their first 53 games and are in last place in the AL West Division. On Friday, SP Mike Minor (4-3) allowed four runs over six frames to earn the victory. Nomar Mazara blasted his 12th home run and drove in three runs to power the Texas offense.
Forty-five year old righty Bartolo Colon (2-2 3.51 ERA) continues to just get better with age. Through 56 plus innings, Colon has struck out 36 batters and owns a sparkling 0.92 WHIP.
