AL Central Division rivals will open up a series on Monday night, when the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians square off at Progressive Field. On Sunday, SP Homer Bailey (7-6) allowed just one run over five plus innings to lead Kansas City to a 6-1 home victory versus Minnesota. Hunter Dozier hit a three-run blast for the Royals, who are 24 games below .500 overall.

Twenty-three year old righty Brad Keller (3-9 4.45 ERA) will head to the hill for the Royals in this contest. Kansas City has lost each of Keller’s last five starts and he has given up 16 runs over his last 32 innings of work. The Cleveland Indians have dealt with injuries to their starting pitching staff and are trying to hang on in the AL Central Division race. On Sunday, Cleveland’s offense exploded for five runs during the second inning of an 8-3 home victory versus Detroit. Bobby Bradley doubled and drove in a run in his first major league plate appearance for the Indians, who have won three straight.

Twenty-seven year old righty Adam Plutko (3-1 4.55 ERA) will make his sixth start of the season for the Indians. Through 27 plus innings, Plutko has struck out 22 batters and owns a solid 1.12 WHIP.

Cleveland SP Corey Kluber (arm) has been transferred to the 60-day injured list. Through 78 games, Kansas City ranks 25th in OPS and 24th in runs scored.
