The Colorado Rockies conclude a three-game series on the road Sunday when they play the Texas Rangers.
On Friday, the Rockies won the opening game of the series 9-5 as Ian Desmond hit two home runs and Trevor Story knocked in two runs as the Rockies were able to overcome a Texas first inning five-run lead. Rockies starter Chad Bettis gave up a pair of two-run home runs to Joey Gallo and Jurickson Profar as Texas scored five times in their first at bat. The Rockies came back with six runs in the second inning. It was the first time since September of 2006 that Colorado has rallied to win after trailing by five or more runs following the first inning. Bettis pitched well after giving up the five quick runs and raised his record to 5-1 lasting five plus innings.
Nolan Arenado leads the Rockies with a .312 batting average and team high 74 hits. Trevor Story leads the team in home runs with 14 and in RBIs with 50. Colorado has a team batting average of .247 while opposing hitters are averaging .260 at the plate against Rockies pitching. On Sunday, the Rockies will send Jon Gray to the mound.
