The Colorado Rockies will play the second game of their opening series of the season on Friday against the Miami Marlins. The Rockies open the regular season on Thursday against the Marlins in their four-game series. Colorado added Daniel Murphy and Mark Reynolds to their lineup. The Rockies expect to score loads of runs with their current lineup, but much more at home than on the road.

Miami continues its rebuilding process and is expected to finish last in the National League East. The only additions of any note to the Marlins are infielder Neil Walker, outfielder Curtis Granderson and pitcher Sergio Romo, while Miami lost All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto and pitcher Dan Straily. Little is expected in a positive way from the Marlins in 2019. Nolan Arenado led the Rockies with a .297 batting average, 38 home runs and 110 RBIS last season and returns at third base. The Rockies have four players returning who hit between 22 and 38 home runs last season and knocked in between 70 and 110 runs. Starting on the mound for the Rockies on Friday will be German Marquez. The right-hander in 2018 was 14-11 with an ERA Of 3.77, 230 Ks and 57 BBs.

Miami’s top returning hitter will be Starlin Castro who led the team with a .278 batting average. Little else in the way of power or batting average will be in the Marlins lineup as the team has emptied its talent to begin bringing up its top prospects. Starting on the mound for the Marlins on Friday will be Trevor Richards. Last season Richards was 4-9 with an ERA of 4.42, 130 KS and 54 BBs.
