Rockies at Marlins 3/28/19 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Colorado Rockies open their 2019 MLB regular season on the road Thursday against the Miami Marlins. The Rockies finished second in the National League West last season and are expected to drop to third in 2019. Colorado added infielders Daniel Murphy and Mark Reynolds to their lineup. The Rockies are expected to product loads of runs with their current lineup.

Miami continues its rebuild and is expected to finish last in the National League East. The only notable additions to the Marlins are infielder Neil Walker, outfielder Curtis Granderson and pitcher Sergio Romo, while Miami lost All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto and pitcher Dan Straily. Do not expect much from the current Marlins roster. Nolan Arenado led the Rockies with a .297 batting average, 38 home runs and 110 RBIS last season and returns at third base. The Rockies have four players returning who hit between 22 and 38 home runs last season and knocked in between 70 and 110 runs. Starting on the mound for the Rockies on opening day will be Kyle Freeland. Last season Freeland was 17-7 with an ERA of 2.85, 173 Ks and 70 BBs

Miami’s top returning hitter will be Starlin Castro who led the team with a.278 batting average. Little else in the way of power or batting average will be in the Marlins lineup as the team has emptied its talent to begin bringing up its top prospects. Starting on the mound for the Marlins will be Jose Urena. Last season Urena was 9-12 with an ERA of 3.98, 130 Ks and 51 BBs.
