Rockies at Giants 5/18/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

In a battle between the top two teams in the NL West you will have the Giants and the Rockies facing off against each other. However, this is a battle that could easily determine who is going to hold the second place position and have a potential run for the long term second place standings on the year. No matter what, the Rockies are a strong team and even if they do lose they will have a strong hold on getting the second place spot.

The Rockies on the year have been able to score a total of 171 runs on the year, but is hitting at a clip of .229 on the season. The Rockies have a team ERA 4.36 on the season so far.

The Giants offense has been able to score a total of 179 runs on the year so far. The Giants have managed to hit at a clip of .258 on the season so far. The Giants have a team ERA of 4.33 on the season so far. Kyle Freeland is the pitcher the Rockies are going to send out to the mound in this game. Freeland on the season has been able to throw a total of 47.1 innings with a total of 44 strikeouts and a 3-4 record. Freeland has an ERA that is sitting at the 3.42 on the year.

The Giants are opting to send out Derek Holland. Holland has started 8 games, but not gone very deep in the games with a total of 41.1 innings being thrown. Holland has struck out 39 batters with a 2-4 record and a 4.79 ERA so far.

The Rockies are coming in with a slightly better starting pitcher who can go a little bit deeper in the games on average compared to Holland. However, the Giants bullpen and pitching staff overall is playing a lot better than anything the Rockies have been able to run out to the mound, some of this comes from pitching in mile high Denver though. Look for the Giants to be able to play better than the Rockies in this game and bring home a close victory 7-6.
