The Sunday MLB schedule will get underway with the first game of a doubleheader between the Cincinnati Reds and the Detroit Tigers from Comerica Park. On Friday, Cincinnati managed just three hits and struck out eight times during a 7-2 road loss against Detroit. SP Luis Castillo (0-1) was charged with five runs in six innings and took the loss for the Reds, who fell to 2-5 on the season.

Thirty year old right-hander Anthony DeSclafani will make his first start of the season for the Reds. DeSclafani, who was out with a pectoral strain posted a 3.89 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 167/49 K/BB ratio across 166 2/3 innings (31 starts) last season.

The Detroit Tigers were expected to occupy the cellar in the AL Central Division, but have won five of their first eight games. On Friday, Detroit SP Spencer Turnbull (1-0) allowed two runs over six solid innings to earn the victory. C Austin Romine drove in a pair of runs and scored twice for the Tigers on the night.

Rookie right-hander Rony Garcia (0-0 6.00 ERA) will head to the hill for the Tigers in this matchup. In his first career major league outing, Garcia gave up three runs (two earned) in three innings during a 4-3 home victory versus Kansas City.

Detroit OF Cameron Maybin has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right quad strain. Through eight games, Cincinnati ranks 13th in OPS and 9th in runs scored.
