Reds at Nationals 8/13/19 - MLB Picks & Predictions

In Tuesday night MLB action, the Cincinnati Reds and Washington Nationals will continue their series from the nation’s capital. Last night, Cincinnati had the tying run on second base in the ninth inning before falling by a 7-6 final score. Jose Iglesias had three hits and drove in a run for the Reds, who fell to five games below .500 overall.

Twenty-eight year old southpaw Alex Wood (1-0 5.65 ERA) will make his fourth start of the season for the Reds. Last time out, Wood was tagged for five runs and recorded just nine outs during a 12-5 home loss versus Chicago. The Washington Nationals are in good position to qualify for the postseason, but need their bullpen to get better. On Monday, Washington’s bullpen allowed four runs over the final two innings before Sean Doolittle finally closed the door. Trea Turner homered and drove in four runs for the Nationals, who trail Atlanta by six games for the NL East Division lead.

Twenty-six year old righty Joe Ross (2-3 6.75 ERA) will draw his fourth starting assignment of the year. Control has been a problem for Ross, who has walked 20 batters through his first 36 innings of work.

Cincinnati 2B Derek Dietrich has been placed on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation. Through 117 games, Cincinnati ranks 19th in OPS and 22nd in runs scored. For the season, Washington ranks 10th in OPS and 13th in runs scored. Look for this game to cruise over the total. Final Score Prediction, Washington Nationals win high scoring game 8-6.
