The Cincinnati Reds travel on the road to Busch Stadium to meet up with the St. Louis Cardinals. Cincinnati opened the series with the Cardinals with a 3-1 win and improved their record on the season to 20-25. St. Louis has fallen in two in a row dropping to 19-19 on the year.

The Reds are one of the worst offenses in the league batting just .211 as a team to rank 30th in the MLB and are averaging just 3.84 runs per game. Leading the Reds has been offseason acquisition Nick Castellanos who has hit 12 homeruns and driven in 28 runs, both leading the team. Left fielder Jessie Winker leads the team in batting average, coming in batting .276 on the year and has hit 10 homeruns and driven in 19 runs.

St. Louis comes in batting .245 on the year ranking 15th in the MLB and averaging 4.54 runs per game to rank 20th in scoring offense. Led by Paul Goldschmidt leads the team in batting average (.317) and homeruns (5). The Cardinals have hit just 37 homeruns this season as a team, ranking 29th in the MLB this season.

Cincinnati will send out Tyler Mahle who is 1-2 on the year with a 3.89 ERA. Mahle gas struck out 45 and walked 13 on the season in 37 innings of work this season. The Reds pitching staff as a whole comes in with a 4.14 ERA to rank 10th in the MLB this season.

Taking the mound for the Cardinals is Carlos Martinez who has struggled in his appearances this season, coming in having pitched through 7 and a third innings Martinez has walked 2 and allowed 14 hits, including three homeruns and has a 12.27 ERA on the season. St. Louis comes in with a 3.70 ERA to rank 6th in the MLB.

With a struggling pitcher taking the mound the Reds offense should be able to sneak across a few runs and build a lead for Mahle who has been solid this season. The Reds offense has been bad this season but facing one of the worst pitchers the Cardinals have to offer they get on him early and are able to hold onto the lead to get the win. Coming off a low scoring win in the series opener, they continue to build on that and coming in as a small underdog, the Reds have a ton of value in this game. Final Score Prediction, Reds win 5-3.
