Red Sox at Yankees 10/9/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 08/07/2019 at 7:39 AM ET

The Boston Red Sox will look to become the last team to punch their ticket into the next round when they play Game Four of the ALDS versus the New York Yankees on Tuesday night. Last night, Boston’s major league leading offense exploded for a 16-1 road triumph over New York. Brock Holt hit for the cycle and drove in five runs to lead the Red Sox.

2016 Cy Young Award winner Rick Porcello (17-7 4.28 ERA) will draw the starting assignment in Game Four. In four starts versus New York this season, Porcello was 2-0 and allowed just six runs over 23 plus innings of work. The New York Yankees won 53 games at Yankee Stadium during the regular season and need to find a way to regroup after last night’s dismal effort. SP Luis Severino was tagged for six runs in three innings and took the loss. The Yankees managed just five hits and drew only one walk on the night. New York 1B Luke Voit singled and scored the only run of the game.

New York manager Aaron Boone will turn to thirty-eight year old southpaw C.C. Sabathia (9-7 3.65 ERA) on Tuesday. Sabathia’s ERA at home this season was a full run less than his road ERA and he owns a 1.31 WHIP overall.

New York OF Aaron Hicks’ MRI on his injured right hamstring came back clean and he did not start in Game Two. Through 162 games, Boston ranked 1st in batting average and 1st in runs scored. For the season, New York ranked 16th in batting average and 2nd in runs scored. Look for the Yankees to bounce back and send this series back to Boston for a winner-take-all Game Five. Final Score Prediction, New York Yankees 6-4.
