Red Sox at Rays 9/13/20 - MLB Picks & Predictions

Tropicana Field will play host to a Sunday afternoon AL East battle between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays. Last night, Boston went 2-for-11 with RISP and stole six bases during a 5-4 road loss against Tampa Bay. Christian Arroyo drove in a pair of runs for the Red Sox, who fell to 16-31 on the year.

Twenty-nine year old southpaw Martin Perez (2-4 4.40 ERA) will head to the hill for the Red Sox in this contest. Last time out, Perez walked a season-high six batters during a 6-5 loss at Philadelphia.

The Tampa Bay Rays have won 16 of their 23 home games and lead the division standings by 4.5 games over Toronto. On Saturday, 2B Brandon Lowe crushed a seventh inning solo shot to put Tampa Bay ahead for good. SP Tyler Glasnow (3-1) struck out seven batters in seven innings to earn the win for the Rays, who moved to 30-16 overall.

The Rays will counter with hard-throwing righty Charlie Morton (1-2 4.94 ERA) on Sunday. Through 23 plus innings, Morton has struck out 24 batters and allowed three home runs.

Tampa Bay 3B Yandy Diaz (hamstring) is still pretty sore according to manager Kevin Cash and hopes to return by the end of the season. Through 47 games, Boston ranks 8th in OPS and 13th in runs scored. Tampa Bay features an offense that ranks 11th in OPS and 7th in runs scored. Take the under on getaway day. Final Score Prediction, Tampa Bay Rays win 4-2.
