The Boston Red Sox play game two of a three-game series on the road Wednesday against the Texas Rangers. Boston was off Monday and the Red Sox defeated Tampa Bay Sunday 7-4. Nathan Evoladi threw six solid innings while Christian Vazquez smacked a three run home run helping the Red Sox beat the playoff-contending Rays.
The Rangers were off Monday as well and Texas used the long ball to beat the Oakland A’s Sunday. The Rangers defeated Oakland 8-3 and hit five home runs in the process. Willie Calhoun belted two of the Rangers’ homers in the victory over the playoff-contending A’s. Also going deep for the Rangers were Shin-Soo Choo, Nomar Mazara and Elvis Andrus.
Rafael Devers leads Boston with a .307 batting average and in hits with 190. J.D. Martinez has the lead in home runs with 35, while Devers leads in RBIs with 112. Boston is averaging .269 at the plate, while opposing hitters are averaging .251. On Wednesday, the Red Sox will send Rick Porcello to the mound. The right-hander is 13-12 with an ERA of 5.56, 135 Ks and 45 BBs.
Elvis Andrus leads Texas with a .271 batting average and in hits with 156. Rougned Odor leads in home runs with 27 and RBIs with 81.
