The Wednesday MLB schedule will get underway with an interleague clash between the Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Braves from SunTrust Park. Last night, Steve Pearce had three hits and drove in three runs to lead Boston to a 5-1 victory. SP Rick Porcello allowed two hits and one run over five innings for the Red Sox, who lead New York by 8.5 games for first place in the AL East.

Boston skipper Alex Cora has yet to name a starting pitcher for this matchup. Cora has plenty of options from a staff that ranks 4th with a 3.61 team ERA and has logged 74 quality starts. The Atlanta Braves have dropped the first two games of this series and have managed to score just three runs total. On Tuesday, Kurt Suzuki provided the only offense with a second inning solo home run. SP Sean Newcomb walked five batters and allowed three runs in four plus innings for the Braves, who lead Philadelphia by three games for the NL East Division lead.

Hard-throwing righty Mike Foltynewicz (10-9 2.80 ERA) will make his 27th start of the season for the Braves. Atlanta has lost Foltynewicz’s last three starts and he has given up five runs over his last 19 innings.

Boston 3B Rafael Devers (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Friday. Through 140 games, Boston ranks 1st in batting average and 1st in runs scored. For the season, Atlanta ranks 3rd in batting average and 8th in runs scored. Take Boston to finish Atlanta off for the sweep on Wednesday. Final Score Prediction, Boston Red Sox win and cover the run line 5-3.
