Last Updated: 08/07/2019 at 7:39 AM ET

The Boston Red Sox will look to advance to World Series when they battle the Houston Astros in Game Five of the ALCS on Thursday night. Last night, Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers drove in two runs each during an 8-6 victory. Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, and J.D. Martinez all scored twice for the Red Sox, who own a 3-1 lead in this best-of-seven series.

Thirty-three year old southpaw David Price (16-7 3,58 ERA) will go for his first win as a starter in his 12th career postseason start. Last time out, Price gave up four runs in four plus innings during a 7-5 victory versus Houston. The Houston Astros must reel off three consecutive victories against Boston if they want to defend their World Series title. The Astros loaded the bases in the ninth inning of Game Four, but Andrew Benintendi robbed Alex Bregman with a diving catch on a line drive to end the game. Carlos Correa had three hits and scored twice for the Astros.

The Astros will counter with thirty-five year old righty Justin Verlander (16-9 2.52 ERA) on Thursday. The 2011 MVP, Verlander, allowed two runs over six innings during a 7-2 victory at Boston in Game One of this series.

Boston SP Chris Sale (illness) was unable to start Game Five, but will reportedly be good to go if needed to start Game Six. Through 162 regular season games, Boston ranked 1st in batting average and 1st in runs scored. For the season, Houston ranked 7th in batting average and 6th in runs scored. Houston has the pitching to win three in a row and it will start with Verlander on Thursday. Final Score Prediction, Houston Astros win and cover the run line 5-2.
